Today I had to go to a meeting with all of the other 9th grade English teachers, which is always an interesting adventure. Normally I would wear comfy clothes (seriously, we're sitting ALL day long!) but, I had to wear my DRESS!!!! So, no rest for the weary....or at leas those attempting to be fashionable! :) The one redeeming factor of having to sit through a day of meetings was that the District Office has a lot of really pretty photo-ops all around. Luckily, my usual photographer, Karen Kozhaya was also at the meeting with me, so it was business as usual! This gem, where I chose to take my pictures today, was right outside of the room that we were meeting in. If you didn't know better, you might think I was in a tropical forest, right??? haha....Downey....paradise? Hmmmmm......Anywho, here is what I wore....
1. I wore this pretty crocheted vest (from Forever 21) that I got from two of my BFF's, Erica and Brittany, for my birthday last year. Britt and Erica picked out a couple cute outfits for me and this was part of the stuff that they bought. I have only worn it once, but it proved to be a good "topper" for my outfit today.2. I wore my "Mark Allison" bell-bottom jeans that I got from The Denim Guy (www.thedenimguy.com) when I did my last denim review. My good friend Johnny (aka The Denim Guy) has hooked me up with so many pairs of awesome denim and this pair is definitely one of my favorites (and not only because they have part of my same name!). The only problem that I ran into with this denim is that they are really long and my legs are really short, so I have to cuff them and then several times today I almost tripped in front of everyone! Yikes! Dangerous, but super cute! It's a pretty fair trade-off, in my opinion! Check out The Denim Guy and his reader reviews and everything "Denim" at http://thedenimguy.com/....I promise you won't be disappointed!
3. I wore a brown, woven belt from Forever 21 (wow, right?). I belted it pretty low on my waist, over my Dress and then "bloused" my dress up over it. So, the dress kind of looked like a "tunic-y" top today!
4. Lastly I wore my "go-to" brown boots. They have never let me down---today was no exception (except when they kept getting stuck in the cuff of my denim!)
Today was a good fashion day! I am getting excited because I am traveling up to Etna, California to visit my BFFFE (Best Friend For Freaking Ever! DUH!), Renee and her husband Pat and daughter Bailey. Renee has a "bun in the oven" and I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving so I am SO EXCITED to see how she's grown and changed. I can't wait to squeeze her prego-belly and talk to the baby! (I'm a weirdo!) But, I am nervous about this "dress situation" because it is a temperature HIGH of approximately 43 degrees during the day in Etna. Yeah. Sooooooo, my next weekend challenge will be to figure out how to STAY WARM IN MY DRESS! Any suggestions???
