Same Dress. 30 Days. Day 20 or "It Was a Trench Coat Kind of Day"

Waking up to the "pitter-patter" of rain on a Saturday morning is normally a really nice thing--but it is only nice if I get to snuggle down into my bed and sleep in until the rain goes away. This morning, I did not get to snuggle in or sleep until the rain went away. Instead, I had CHEER PRACTICE (yahoo, right?) because we are going to competition tomorrow (yay!). Therefore, there is no rest for the weary. I am getting ready to live my own personal version of "Bring It On" tomorrow morning (at 9AM at Brea-Olinda H.S.....in case anyone else wants to join me? What's that? No? LOL) and we needed some last minute practice before the BIG EVENT! And while THAT practice alone would have been eventful enough to fill my day completely, tonight I also went to see the Warren HS Drama production with my friends, The Keelers. The play was funny---inventive, well-produced, well-acted, and made me yearn for my "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" high school drama days (right, Jason Walker? If you're reading this!) Here is what I wore today...

1. I FINALLY mastered the "sock bun" a la Kim Kardashian. Bianca taught me how to make this bun, and I have ben attempting to master it all week long. Tonight I felt like I finally got it---every other time I did it, I did not like the way it turned out....it's kind of complicated, but basically it consists of cutting the toes off of a pair of socks and rolling them up so they make a kind of large scrunchie. You put your hair in a ponytail and then put the sock "scrunchie" over that so the ends of the ponytail are hanging through. Then you drape the rest of your hair over the scrunchie and then put a ponytail holder over THAT and then bobbypin the rest of the hair around the bun. I know this probably does not make any sense, but if you want to know more, just search YouTube for "sock bun" and there should be an instructional video :) Good Luck!
2. I wore my Khaki H&M trench coat that I got for Christmas last year from my Auntie M and Uncle Gary. It is super cute and is not really the warmest jacket that I own, but when I wear it with a long sleeve shirt (or Dress, in this case) it ends up being acceptably warm enough. I also wore my pretty scarf that my G-Ma knitted for me a few years ago. It is beautiful and has blues, greens, purples, and grays running throughout it's coloring. Gorgeous---and because it was made just for me, by my G-MA, it is also special (and even more beautiful!)
3. I wore my black leg warmers under my boots and pulled them up so that they were OTK (over the knee) and it ended up being really cute. I've had these leg warmers for a while now, but I just can't get over the fact that I feel like I look like I am playing "'80's Dress Up" when I wear them. So, by wearing them under my boots, I remedied that insecurity. You can't even tell that they are leg warmers and not socks, right? Right! Gotta love a little deception!
4. Lastly, I wore my go-to boots. I know, I know---I wear these A LOT---but I'm telling you, they were expensive and I am going to get my money's worth out of these! Also, they do really go with black AND brown---fancy AND casual. FA-BU-LOUS! (Right?)
All in all, not my most exciting outfit, but I did enjoy all of the things that I did while wearing this outfit today. It was a little too cold to be wearing a dress sans tights, leggings, or jeans underneath, but THANK GOODNESS FOR LEGWARMERS! :) Cheers to THAT! I am so excited for tomorrow and I can't wait to see how well our girls do! They are going to ROCK! I just know it! :) Stay tuned!
