"He was a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple-people-eater..."....now how many of you out there have seen THAT classic movie???? Amazing, and everytime I wear purple it is all I can think of and I hum the catchy theme song the whole time I am wearing it. :) Today was "Purple Day", because I literally went into my closet, accessories boxes, and drawers and came up with everything that I have that is purple and put it on! And I must say, I think it ended being a pretty dang good look! The black dress, mixed with one color (monochromatic, if you will), looked really classy today. I had a lot of compliments from teachers and not so many from students today--it must be because I looked SOOOOOO classy and not as trendy as I usually do! Good thing or bad thing???? Catch-22 I guess.
1. Put on 2 different sets of bracelets--my three purple ones from Forever 21 (which I originally bought as a gift and then ended up keeping for myself--don't tell me you've never done THAT!) and then my silver "cuff" that I received in my stocking from "Santa" (aka my Mom and Dad)! If you look closely, you can also see my beautiful sapphire ring that I "inherited" from my Auntie M a few years ago. I ALWAYS wear that ring--it's the perfect accessory for everything I own. Plus, it reminds me to be thankful for my Auntie M everytime I look at it.
2. Next I took a purple sash/belt off of another dress and tied it around the waist of the dress. The only part that was difficult about this sash is that it is a satin-y material and it kept coming untied all day long. But, all's fair in love, war, and.....fashion, right? So, in the name of fashion, I suffered through retying it all day!
3. With my tights I hit a small "snaffu". I had a plan to wear a COMPLETELY different pair of tights today--I was actually going to wear a pair of gray, leopard print tights that I also received from "Santa" this Christmas. However, when I was putting them on I unfortunately created a snag and then I couldn't wear them. :( Sad day, and actually, I guess I will never be able to wear them now...I HATE that! So, I settled for this pair of embellished tights...the little "polka dots" are actually stitching and they are "perforated" (does that work in this situation?). I also wore my ADORBS black and gray Aldo heels. If you look closely, you will notice that the bow is actually missing from the left shoe because I lost it one night while my brother and I were running around New York City last Spring! And, because I love these shoes, I continue to wear them, despite the missing bow!
4. Last, I wore my gray elbow-length knit cardigan over the whole ensemble. My friend Daniela always teases me because I have SO MANY little sweaters--I love them! They are an easy way to transform an outfit, and also, like I said on Sunday's post, offer just enough warmth without being overwhelming. Get it? Got it? Good!
Overall, I loved this outfit (can you tell I'm having fun??) and I think that purple is such a nice color. It looks good on mostly everyone---don't be afraid to rock it!!! What you might not be able to tell is that I am currently blogging from the Hanohano-Lira house where a bunch of my work friends and I are watching "Moneyball" and eating pizza and hotwings! I LOVE MY WORK FRIENDS. I think that most jobs are like that---if you can find a way to enjoy what you do---whatever it may be, and get along with the people you do it with, then life will be beautiful. I promise! Put on some purple, find your joy. :)
You are adoreableness!
