Same Dress. 30 Days. Day 7 or "How I Learned About Self-Control In My Dress"

"My dear brothers and sisters, take note: be always quick to listen. Be slow to speak and slow to get angry." James 1:19

Today I took my Dress to Sunday school. We are learning about Self-Control this month and it is continuously amazing how much I always learn as the teacher! Self-Control (and patience!) is something that I struggle with--and I would venture to say that many other people do as well! I mean, come on, my closet is an example of my own personal lack of self-control. Do I really need 51 pairs of shoes??? NO! But I still have that many pairs....ridiculous! Well, I am not going to lie to you, sometimes the lessons that I have to teach at Sunday school are kind of silly and are not things that I feel that I can really relate to, but this month's virtue is already proving to challenge me to grow. I like it. I think we can all (regardless of our faith or lack thereof) be more quick to listen to one another, choose our words more carefully, and take a deep breath and count to 10 before we get too mad. Right?

So today here is how I wore my Dress...

1. I wore my hair in an inside/outside french braid. I love wearing my hair like this because it has the illusion of being fancy but in actuality it takes me about 45 seconds to do myself, and keeps my hair out of my face (always a plus!)

2. I wore a blue shirt (from Forever 21---gosh, I just have sooooo much range in my purchasing patterns, don't I???), with a brown belt cinched over the top---I recommend doing this to any baggy shirts, because if you leave your shirt baggy, it makes even the thinnest person look bigger---and i really don't think any of us WANT to look BIGGER (right?), and over that I wore my mustard yellow 3/4 sleeve cardigan. This weather has been amazing, and a 3/4 length sleeve is just warm enough! (Sidenote: I had to BACK MYSELF INTO that little crevice in the Children's Church "Alley" and the kids were looking at me like I was crazy---which I totally am!)

3. Lastly, I wore my super cute cowboy boots with black leggings. My boots are so comfortable and once again, I love the combination of brown and black.

Overall, I loved this look. The concept of "layering" is going to be my best friend during this challenge. Layering is such a great strategy for ANYONE to use; it allows a person to be warm in the cooler morning hours, and then as the day warms up, all you have to do take a layer off. This is especially important with the kind of weather we have been fortunate enough to be having this Winter!

Alright friends, here comes another week! One week down....about 3 more to go! Thanks again to everyone who has been reading! It really continues to surprise me every time someone comments about a blog or mentions that they are reading! I think we're up to a whopping 10 readers now! :)
